History of Alum Rock
In 1872, San Jose City fathers were compelled to build a magnificent tree-lined, seven-mile-long brick road from downtown San Jose to the newly designated Alum Rock Park, which was a gift from the State of California to the people of San Jose. This path can be traveled today on Alum Rock Avenue, and ARVBA embraces the historic significance of this route. (click here for more) |

ARVBA celebrates the holiday season with its annual celebration - Light Up The Village. The business association has created this event for the purpose of providing the community with a family event. Light Up The Village has been growing every year, from 500 guests in 2006, 1500 in 2007, and over 2000 in 2008!
